15 years of age in my first darkroom

Scott Nibauer has been a visual artist since his mother worked at a TV station, back in the 60's. As a 5 year old going to work with her, Scott fell in love with the cameras! His mother says, "He never wanted to be on any of the kids’ shows, which were many. He always wanted to play with the TV cameras and help film." Declaring when he grew up, he wanted to be a "camera operator”. His love of photography continued to grow over time. He developed his first roll of film at the age of 8, and had his first SLR at the age of 12. When it came time for college, he only applied to one school -RIT. Yes, he got in!

Graduating at the top of his class, RIT has some of Scott's work in their permanent collection. After RIT, Scott lived in Europe and the Middle East for a couple of years, studying art history and philosophy. When he came back to the states, he decided to study film at Temple University in Philadelphia.

His career began in the commercial film and video industry. After about a year, he partnered up with his friend and fellow RIT graduate, Peter Lien to create Lien/Nibauer Photography. After almost 28 years in business together, in 2014 the partners went their separate ways. They still are good friends and collaborate on certain jobs today.

Scott's career has taken him around the world and back. He has shot for a wide spectrum of clients; from editorial to commercial; from healthcare to pharmaceutical; from corporate to advertising. He has been on assignments all over the US and all over the world, from South America to South Africa, from Europe to Asia.

Scott brings a unique vision to all that he does. He is gifted at extracting the best from a situation. With his acumen for lighting and the power of his sight, Scott creates and captures the magic of the moment. Working with Scott, not only provides top quality and talent, he also brings the uplifting energy of a free-spirited young boy, who has all the passion and joy of loving life as a photographer.

One client said this of working with Scott, "When photographing people, he is able to direct them to get exactly the shot he wants -- and does so with warmth and humor; which makes everyone relaxed and comfortable. He's inventive, exciting and fun -- one of the best!"
